Transforming heritage architecture requires equal parts technical muscle and creative restraint. For a special one-night Christmas celebration, EMF Technology was brought in by Pembroke College to deliver a bespoke visual experience across the historic façade of the college quad.

Our team handled the project end-to-end, providing custom content creation, media server playback, and high-output projection hardware.
The Creative Vision
Working closely with the college events team, our creative department designed an animated narrative tailored specifically to the building’s stonework and window lines. The sequence combined festive motifs, archival college imagery, and dynamic lighting effects engineered to accentuate the architectural details rather than wash them out.
Technical Delivery & Hardware
Because the installation was live for just one evening, rapid deployment and rock-solid reliability were essential:
-
High-Output Projection: A single 31,000-lumen laser projector delivered crisp, high-contrast imagery across the entire façade, cutting through ambient courtyard lighting with vivid colour saturation.
-
Media Playback: Dedicated media server playback enabled precise pixel mapping, real-time geometric correction, and frame-accurate looping throughout the evening.
-
Fast Turnaround: Full optical alignment, warping, and show runs were configured within an afternoon setup window, leaving zero footprint on the grounds by midnight.
“EMF Technology turned our historic quad into a breathtaking festive canvas. The clarity of the projection and the tailor-made animation made the evening truly unforgettable for our fellows, students, and guests.”
