Elevation’s revelations

FLAT-TOPPED Table Mountain overlooks Cape Town and is two miles wide and 3,563ft high. The top is often covered in clouds known an the “table cloth”.

Lions used to prowl on the mountain, but the last one was shot in 1802. It is popular with hikers and climbers, but tourists can take a cable car to the top.

DARKNESS shrouds the South African city of Cape Town – but The Sun still shines on the iconic Table Mountain.

The world’s No1 footie paper created this incredible light show just hours before today’s World Cup draw.

And what a way to unveil our star football writers Ian Wright, Harry Redknapp, Terry Venables — and new signing John Terry.

Sun’s new pundit … John Terry

Richard Pelham

The England and Chelsea captain completes our amazing quartet of SunSport football pundits who will bring unrivalled football coverage in the run-up to next summer’s tournament.

John joins England legend Ian, Spurs manager Harry and former England boss Terry to form a Sun Dream Team, making us your one-stop shop for news, opinions, stats and match reports.

Like many fans, Wrighty is a big admirer of JT. He has praised the England skipper as a “strong leader” and also said: “JT is the perfect England captain as he loves playing for his country.

“It means so much to him — you can see that when he plays on the pitch.”

Under John’s leadership, England qualified top of their group, smashing the opposition, and are now the third favourites to win the tournament at 6/1, behind Spain and Brazil.
